Body Image Therapy
With Stacey Morvitz, LCSW
After years of collaborating with doctors and dietitians, I have specialized training and experience with body image and disordered eating.
Does your body take up too much mental space?
Are you always trying new plans or diets, but still feeling stuck?
Do you feel like you’re never enough-or too much?
It can feel like your body controls your life. But you’re not failing; you’ve been doing your best to cope with something really painful. And you don’t have to stay stuck here.
Clients Come to Me When They’re
At odds with their body
Stuck in negative thoughts
Exhausted
Avoiding photos + mirrors
Letting their happiness depend on size
Losing time to worry
Please note: I only work with adults 18+
Body image struggles often start long before we even notice. Messages from family, culture, social media, and past experiences can create patterns that are painful and hard to break alone.
How I Approach Body Image Therapy
No one treatment approach looks the same for everyone. We begin by understanding where these beliefs came from and what purpose they serve. Your relationship with your body didn’t appear out of nowhere, it was shaped over time.
When you start to understand why you’re stuck in the cycle, change begins to feel more possible.
Modalities I Use
-
Helps you understand the deeper experiences that shaped your body image and the patterns that keep them alive.
-
Supports you in aligning with your values so your day isn’t dictated by how your body looks or feels.
-
Builds tools for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and healthier coping when body or food thoughts feel overwhelming.
-
Helps challenge rigid, all-or-nothing beliefs about worth, appearance, and food; creates room for balanced thinking.
We’ll build emotional regulation skills, expand what feels possible, and create a life driven by your values instead of body pressure.
Build A New Relationship With Your Body
When your mind is no longer consumed by body & food thoughts, everything opens up.
After Working With Me, Clients Report
Confidence
Fewer comparisons
Stronger relationships
More energy
Living life at ease
Better sleep
Mood not tied to appearance
Live the life you want, not the one your body image dictated.
About Stacey Morvitz, LCSW
I’ve supported many people through body image struggles, and I’ve seen how powerful therapy can be when we explore the roots, build skills, and create relief.
My style is warm, down-to-earth, and curious. We’ll work together to understand what’s fueling the pain and find ways to quiet the noise. We’ll focus on what feels possible right now, one step at a time.
I come from an anti-diet mentality that believes in body neutrality. I come from the perspective that smaller does not mean better and that true happiness comes from finding peace with your body and food.
Availability: I work with clients virtually in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Texas.
